#FASHION SALVAGE - LOVE YOUR CLOTHES

L O V E YOUR CLOTHES.

http://loveyourclothes.org.uk

I was lucky enough to attend a night of rummaging, styling and creative up cycling at the LMB recycling warehouse in East London.

Love your Clothes is an awareness campaign for loving your clothes and have the following aims which are to:

  • make your clothes last longer
  • reduce the environmental impact of laundering your clothes
  • deal with unwanted clothes
  • make the most of your wardrobe.

  • The campaign held it's first ever #FASHIONSALVAGE event in which LOVE YOUR CLOTHES work with WRAP  to reduce consumer impact in regards to Fashion.

The #fashionsalvage event involved a gang of fashion experts, designers, bloggers and stylists gathering together to make something beautiful out of what would otherwise be waste.

THE FACTS: £140 MILLION worth of clothing goes into landfill EVERY YEAR and with this statistic up cycling and designing with recycled materials is even more important.

This shocks me. What on earth are we doing?

    THE #FASHIONSALVAGE CHALLENGE

    - An hour to create a look from rummaging through the waste clothes and design and style something beautiful to show at the end.

N.B You get to keep the outfit that you style!

This was literally my dream challenge.

The team at the recycling centre are AMAZINGLY efficient and organise each category of waste into garment sections:

These contain all sorts of treasures:

    • leather jackets
    • Fur
    • scarves
    • African printed pieces (i lived in here for about an hour)
    • denim jeans
    • uniform
    • hats
    • sequins

In for the long haul and yes I had just climbed in that bin ....

You get the picture! : Amazing.

The challenge began with a talk and welcome by the team and ALI MOORE from WRAP and we were introduced to our lovely hosts for the evening who were :
